In mid- to late November I am normally out in search of monster "mulies." During the rut, big bucks shed their reclusive nature and become more visible as they begin their courting ritual. This is also the time when we need to be more vigilant drivers. With only one thing on their minds, bucks are chasing after does and rivals. These chases often lead across roadways. Taking advantage of the buck's disregard for traffic, I captured this image from my vehicle, after pulling safely off the road. I had been hiking most of the morning in hopes of photographing a trophy buck with no success. Sometimes you get lucky. (wildshots.com)
