Living in wide-open country and having phenomenal speed and eyesight make pronghorns challenging photographic subjects. This photo was taken on a private ranch in western Colorado. I set up my blind near a heavily used trail, and left it for a week, allowing the animals to become accustomed to it before I attempted to do any photography. On my first day of photography, I entered the blind well before dawn and was rewarded with this silhouette image when a buck paused briefly on a nearby hill just at sunrise. (wildshots.com)
