Letters to the Editor
Babbling
You've heard of coffee table books, well, this latest issue of Inside/Outside [September/October 2008, 10-Year Anniversary Issue] qualifies, basically - not beyond, really - a bathroom book (sic). I look for information that's entertainingly delivered, not entertainment for nothing other sake (sic) than a bunch of babbling quotes. This is bullshit mag for some bored teenager this time. Thanks but no thanks. There's a whole new season coming ahead of us of interesting opportunities and activities; apparently not interesting enough here in the present to spare us a bunch of babbling from the past. Bye. - Voicemail from an unidentified caller, Sept. 24
We're in the people-pleasing business, and no matter how we go about it we're aware that there is no pleasing all the people all the time. We saw it coming: a reader who could not see the merit of lending tribute in one issue to the voices whose writing went into the 78 issues we've published over the 10-year lifetime of the magazine. Fair Warning: in another 10 years - heck, maybe five - we'll do it again. - The Editor
Issue Takes Me Back to Another Today
Great 10-year anniversary issue! An Inside/Outside reader since day one, several excerpts took me back to a time when I had no money, no real job, and was just happy to ride, snowboard and climb. Wait, that's today. Well, you know what I mean. Cool issue. - Brandon Mathis, Durango, Colorado
Wright's the Man
I'm writing to let you know just how much I enjoy your magazine. I especially love the articles written by Ken Wright. With each new issue, his is the first article [Neanderthal Crossing column] I read. Ken's writing has a rare poignancy and always leaves me with a fresh perspective. After all the changes I have seen in Durango over the past 35 years, it's nice to find a magazine that keeps me connected. - Marilynn Monger, Durango, Colorado
