.com-ing of Age
We're changing strategy. Have to. Paper, printing and distribution costs have skyrocketed and we're choking on the expense. The straining economy has everybody tightening their belts, and we've grabbed hold. You may like our plan, however, because the bottom line provides for not less but more coverage of the Four Corners. How can that be? Good question.
Here's what we are going to do. Starting with the February issue, we will relaunch our Web site. Insideoutsidemag.com will publish a full issue each month in addition to features we weren't able to provide in the print publication, such as Web cams from across our region. Online we can put you one click away from seeing what's happening at your favorite ski resort, along with views of landscapes and city streets. In some cases, the view will be close to real time.
We'll also provide reader contests, a knurl of bloggers, a way for readers to communicate quickly with the magazine and its contributors and, in time - drum roll! - every issue we've published. That's 10 years of issues, my friend. A search engine will provide easy access to our archives, where you can find information you may have missed or didn't know we had.
The catch: We're not going the way of The Christian Science Monitor and PC Magazine, each of which recently replaced its print publicaton with its Web site. We'll continue our print publication as long as it's feasible but the February issue will be reduced in size by page number and number circulated - get 'em while they're hot! In print we will continue to cover the same topics as usual, as extensively as we can on fewer pages. To ensure you won't miss a lick of coverage, the print issue will point you to insideoutsidemag.com where you will find expanded versions of your favorite stories. Online you'll also find your favorite columns and, as usual, on-going coverage of our region.
Thank you for sharing our journey.
